my journey!
While still in school I started to become obsessed with Photoshop and creating Websites. Right after school, I was clear about starting to work – hands-on – right away and I applied for an apprenticeship as a Media Designer with a focus on printed products. While doing so, I was wondering why my colorful artwork looked different on the screen compared to the printed result in the office and the result coming fresh from the press. From that moment on I started to focus on Color Management Workflows in the printing industry and decided to go back to theory at the University of Applied Science for Media in Stuttgart. As a Print Media Management student (B.Sc.), I deepened my knowledge in that field and expanded as well into technical and economical aspects of print and online media production.
After graduating, I worked in the InnovationLab of a developer and manufacturer of Color Measurement Devices. I lead international projects in different color-related industries and managed multidisciplinary teams, developing innovative hardware-, software- and smartphone solutions from concept to serial production. I learned a lot and enjoyed the diversity of my daily business and the insights into so many disciplines, companies, and products. Besides project management, "design" remained a huge part of my conceptual and operational responsibility. With this broad skillset, I started my own remote freelance business in summer 2018. I am helping my clients to START SOMEWHERE and GET THINGS DONE in creative and colorful projects.

In the last months, I had a lot of fun working on the book project with BEYONDPLASTIC. A book that celebrates 85 innovative and creative solutions to reduce or replace single-use plastic and tells the story and mission of the BEYONDPLASTIC platform. After some years of focussing on "software", this project brought me back to my roots in design, typography, and print. From concept to page layout and design, micro typographic details, choosing paper and cover material, to proof-reading, post-press finishing, and managing the production – I enjoyed working on each and every detail of the book. Bookmaking is beautiful, fascinating craftsmanship! Here, I specifically love the pagination climbing down the book, the way the four signature colors of the four main categories are incorporated into the overall design concept, and the open black thread stitching that already allows a glimpse into the inner workings of the 160 pages from the outside.
